Timber Patio Decking in Sevenoaks, Kent

Large Patio Garden deck constructed with treated decking timbers throughout. The deck is enclosed by a brick retaining wall together with decking balustrade to top of wall for safety reasons. Substantial excavations were carried out to allow for the sub deck to be constructed lower than the doors of the house. The retaining wall was then built prior to the sub deck and then decking proper laid.

The large decking patio allowed for good recreational all year round use adjacent to the garden. It was sunken in relation to the rest of the garden, but the base soil was free draining so additional drainage was not considered necessary.

Timber patio decks are much more user-friendly than paved areas - especially where children are concerned.

A substantial garden patio decking project in Sevenoaks Kent, involving enlarging the existing patio area to take a new timber deck. The new decking patio will give added recreation space in the garden. All of the decking timber will be tanalised - which carries a 15 year anti-rot guarantee. The client have already had one timber patio deck installed at a previous house. Recommendation enough!

Considerable excavation was undertaken using a mini digger. Total volume of soil moved = approx 30 cubic metres. Spoil will be removed from the site using a 'grab lorry'.

The area of the new garden decking patio being excavated by our ace digger driver Michael. The  area excavated measured 20m x 2m. This added to the existing patio area will give us a deck space of  approx 95 sq metres of decking.

Before the decking patio can be installed, there will be around 30 metres of retaining wall to build - to include steps up from the deck to the higher level garden.

Concrete foundations are in for the retaining wall. The plastic sheeting prevents the concrete from drying out too quickly - allowing it to 'cure' before brickwork starts.

Top Row: Michael inspects the foundations - they are ok so the bricklayer gets going. RH image shows the scale of the excavation that took place.
Bottom Row: The old lawn is about to become a new lawn!  The heap of debris gets bigger!

Snow forecast for tomorrow - Oh joy!!
