Cleaning a DeckOiling a Deck Oiled Deck Video

Finished decking projects made from treated softwood. All the softwood used in these projects were treated by the supplier using Tanlith. The finished timber decking projects will give you a few ideas about the suitability and versatility of softwood decking. None of these completed decking structures were stained upon completion - simply left to mature firstly into a honey brown colour, and then eventually into a pleasing grey. The colour can be changed or enhanced by the use of decking oil. |
The finished deck above was constructed from 6x2in (150x50mm) treated joist and supported with 4x4 (100x100mm) treated posts - concreted into the ground where applicable. Balustrades were made from Burbidge timber balustrade components.
In the completed deck above, you will see the effect of enhancing your deck further with a few flower containers. In this case, the containers were also used as a reminder that there is no balustrade along this curved edge - which was the access down to the garden.
The pergolas - and the use of ornamental sisal rope, give an added dimension to these finished decks. The pergolas were made from the same material as the deck sub-base. 6x2 or 5x2 treated timbers - softwood.
Ropes again add a further feature to these decks - as does the angled deck edge which was included to provide maximum use of the area.
Trellis can also be used to great effect - other than screening out the
neighbours. Access between these raised deck was via a substantial
staircase - constructed from the same timbers using the deckboards
6x1.5in as risers and treads. The completed decking project, was left
un-stained and allowed to mature to a pleasing light grey.
